The Corey Christiansen Model
Base Price: $12,500.00
We met Corey when he was still an up and comer and working at Mel Bay Publishing as the senior editor and guitar clinician in the early 2000's. We were at a guitar show in new york and were blown away by what we heard. Corey came to the booth to check out the guitars and the rest is history. Corey's first guitar was a custom 17" virtuoso archtop, which he got a lot of use out of but because of all the traveling and different venues he played at the big box was not always practical. So we made him a gigmaster which was our production slim body electric archtop and it was much more versatile for his gigging needs at the time. As corey's fame grew he started creating his own style of jazz, a more modern approach with a bigger sound and more distortion and overdrive. we offered to build him his own model of his own design that would fit his needs. Its slim body style with a 2 1/8" depth helps with feed back and comfort. The neck joins the body at the 16th fret to give him more and easier access to the upper frets. We have a block in the center making it virtually feed back resistant. 2 pickups were a must because at this time in his career his style was very ECLECTIC and he needed VERSATILITY of tone to create his musical magic. We experimented with all kinds of pickups but corey liked our signature alnico 3 and alnico 5 the best for the signature tone he was trying to create. we collaborated on the rest of the design choices and the corey model was born. He is currently teaching at Utah State University and the famed Jacobs School of Music at Indiana University and still tours extensively. In one of his latest cd's lone prairie corey looks to traditional cowboy songs and melodies of the frontier for inspiration, capturing the sweeping vistas of the western landscape through open vamps, searing solos and spacious grooves; still in keeping with the jazz traditions but also drawing from folk, country, blues and funk. basically taking songs based in traditional americana and RE CONTEXTUALIZING the music for new generations. Downbeat magazine said it best when describing corey's music "from the first note Corey christiansen lights a RHYTHMIC fire that never flickers, punctuating chords with precision and soloing with zeal on this set of originals and standards." Looking for Jazz that is Modern, passionate, inspiring and unique? well look no further, corey is the guy for you.
